Free Dominguez

I listened to the unmastered VOLCANO+THE SEA on my night drive home on the 101, not attaching any thing to it technically.   Just listening with my heart. 

It immediately conjured up good feelings I remembered as a child hearing certain songs or singers for the first time, that wonderment and possibly the first spark of me wanting to be able to make a record.   I remembered sitting in the back of my mother’s car, singing at the top of my lungs some of my favorite songs on the radio.

I was reminded of moving to Los Angeles, and those records that I would listen to on my long drives, learning the freeways, connecting to my surroundings, feeling the fertile soil of possibility at that time in my life.

I was reminded of all things good with my friends here and the people in my life and all of the records we have shared together in our good times.

I was reminded that when creating any Art, this is what happens when everyone’s intention is LOVE FIRST.  

That is what VOLCANO+THE SEA is for me.  This is far from a kidneythieves record, and far from any solo or side project I have done – but at the same time – completely belongs in the body of work.   It is the best thing I have done for myself for creative emotional and personal growth–and a huge leap to something else.  I can scour this entire record with my spirit and only find LOVE existing in it.   That’s what its about.  Putting out the best thing you possibly can.  Thank you for allowing me to share this one.
