Get a Second, Third or Fourth Opinion
i recently have been dealing with health issues. i have health insurance. without going into too much detail, i had pain that was debilitating, making me not be able to walk, sit, stand, breathe at one point, and at one time feel my feet.
doctor #1 when pain started: Never called me back. left town for good.
doctor #2 was not given old records, gave me a couple of inconclusive tests, and LEFT ME A VOICEMAIL to “JUST TAKE MOTRIN.”
(not to mention, i had to use the word Lawyer just to get an image of my body… TWICE).
after the “MOTRIN” message, and my use of The Google (seeing that 100% of these people had other tests going on with pain – most of which doctor #2 did not)
i saw doctor #3 - he sat with me, looked at all my prior records, and took a course of action.
MEANWHILE, i saw a doctor #4, a specialist. they also helped me in one direction. i’m on the road to getting answers and feeling better!
Unless it’s infection+antibiotic=feeling better, do not trust just one doctor! FIGHT. FIGHT. FIGHT.
time and again i hear stories of friends such as of doctors that have said “oh that lump is just tissue or a cyst,” and doctor #2 had said the same thing… and doctor #3 biopsied it and saved her life. more stories than i can count!!
just because they are doctors, doesn’t mean they are “The One.” They are tired, overworked, concerned about billing, and having their own struggles with that. Makes the term HEALTH CARE ironic.
think about it: FOUR doctors, TWO MONTHS, until answers and course of action. There are so many scenarios of people that they would already be dead. crazy.
please please please, i’m posting this if any of you ever get diagnosed or non-diagnosed with something, DON’T TAKE THEIR WORD FOR IT. GET ANOTHER OPINION/CONSULTATION/TEST. The extra $25-$1000 could save your life.
You can always pay bills later or in increments, you can’t dig yourself out of death.
